Psychosocial risks: stress, violence and sexual harassment at work

Owing to the type of work that many women carry out and because of societal roles and social structures, they are generally at a higher risk of psychosocial hazards and risks that can cause work‐related stress, burnout, violence, discrimination and harassment. Women entering non‐traditional occupations are particularly at risk of discrimination and sexual harassment. Research has found that women’s stress levels remain high after work, particularly if they have children living at home. Men, however, generally unwind rapidly at the end of the working day.
